

Median, Mode and Range of a frequency table
We already know how to find the average of discrete data (refer to Mean, Median and Mode). We also know how to find the Range of a set of data (refer to Range)
- Example 1. This table shows athletic stars awarded to students in a sports club. Find the median, mode and range of

Median
Order the values, then work out the middle value, that is
10th and 11th value:
1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5
The median is the mean of the 10th and 11th

Mode
Find the most common value: 2 occurs 8 times so it is 2
