Cube Roots
We already know that a number multiplied by itself three times is called a cube (refer to Cubes)
The cube root works the other way: where you have the resulting cube, and you want to find the number that is multiplied by itself three times to get the cube
| Cube | 33 = 3 × 3 × 3 = 27 |
| Cube root | 3√27 = 3 |
| Cube root can also be written as | 271/3 = 3 |
• Examples
| Cube root | Cube | |
| 1. | 3√8 = 2 | 23 = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 |
| 2. | 3√27 = 3 | 33 = 3 × 3 × 3 = 27 |
| 3. | 3√64 = 4 | 43 = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64 |
| 4. | 3√125 = 5 | 53 = 5 × 5 × 5 = 125 |
