Finding the Percentage of a Number
If we want to find the percentage of a number − the "of" means "multiply by".
- Example 1. Find 10% of 200.
- Example 2. Find 15% of 50.
- Example 3. Find 11% of 2000.
- Example 4. Find 1% of 14.
So 10/100 × 200 = 1/10 × 200 = 20
So 15/100 × 50 = 15/10 × 5 = 7.5
So 11/100 × 2000 = 11 × 20 = 220
So 1/100 × 14 = 0.01 × 14 = 0.14
